We want to replace the upstairs ceiling with plasterboard/gib. The existing ceiling is late 80's / early 90's soft board tiles/pinex. There is no asbestos risk with these as far as I know. This would be the entire upstairs ceiling except for the bathoom ie: Kitchen, Lounge/Dining, Hallway, Laundry, Bedroom x2. Cutouts are needed for 4 outlets and 1 return vent for ducted air con/heatpmp, a dozen LED downlights and attic access hatch. We are going to renovate the kitchen so we need to figure out a plan for the rangehood and kitchen lights with our kitchen plan too. We want to consider a couple different options ie: removal vs over-lining, square stopping vs keeping the existing Scotia. The upstairs bathroom has already been renovated, the existing ceiling was over-lined and square stopped but this might not be practical for the rest of the rooms. Ceiling paint system for the bathroom was Resene half black white, existing ceiling tiles were also painted Resene half black white.
