Mice or Rats??

I need investigation at my home where my elderly parents live in Sunnynook. I own the home but live in Melbourne but need it looked into. There are droppings in the pantry and on the kitchen table. I have no idea how bad it is as I am going on what they tell me. My dad has laid rat blocks but I don’t think it’s working
