Stripping ceiling paint

I need some paint on ceiling timber stripped to bare wood for borer treatment to soak into timber i.e. good quality stripping work very important, as this is not just for a re-paint job. Have tried to DIY using Citristrip but don't have the skills or time to be efficient. Very small room, about 8-10m2. Freshly renovated 1950s home - am assuming modern lead-free paint but not sure if lead layers underneath.
