Replace soffit downlight fitting

I've just moved in and noticed this light was only working intermittently and then stopped altogether. I replaced the halogen bulb with an LED one and it worked fine for a week but has now totally given up again. I'm hoping it's just the fitting but there may be an issue with the wiring which I'd like to get checked out (along with replacing the fitting) for my peace of mind.
