Replace lighting fixture

I have a new light fixture that needs to be installed. My house is an old cottage, so the current wiring to where this fitting will go has only neutral and live (no earth/ground). I did not feel comfortable replacing it myself as the new fixture has an aluminium body. Unsure if it is safe to fit despite having no earth wire in the wiring, or if some re-wiring needs to be done.
