Wooden retaining wall for driveway

Posted 9 months ago

The small retaining wall of a driveway is failing/failed and needs to be reinstated. The retaining wall is of wood construction and approximately 15m in length and around 800mm tall at it's highest point. I will have plans from a structural engineer and be obtaining a building consent for the project once I have obtained costs.

Section clearing and mulching

Some section clearing and general tidy up. Round the back a large pile of pavers and a stack of firewood needs moving to the side of the house and weeds cleared. At the front of the house a large area of weeds needs clearing and a flower beds with weeds and very old woody ivy needs to be completely dig out. Down the fence line the hard clay needs to be dug out ready for planting. Areas dug out then need filling with topsoil and mulch brought in to cover weeded areas. I expect this work would t...

Backyard slope levelling

Posted 10 months ago

Hi, I've got a back lawn that slopes off unevenly towards the fence line. I'd like it built up and leveled towards the fence line. It's sort of uneven slope - slopes off sharply near to the start, but then less so later on. The relevent area is roughly 10m long, 2m wide, and 1.5m deep at the deepest. I don't need lawn laid or anything, just want it built up evenly towards the fence. It may need a little bit of a retaining built at the deepest part, I'd be guided by you on that. The tricky pa...

Backyard revamp

Posted 10 months ago

Our backyard needs a bit of a revamp. The previous owners split the backyard into 4 sections (including a deck) but one small section by the deck is quite unusable. So we are considering digging the section out, putting in a planter box backing onto the deck and having some steps built from the deck down onto the rest of the lawn. (The photo is not the best, but the blue area shows the general area to be dug out and have a planter box and steps put in)

As a result of a neighbouring development, we have had our back yard flattened and fenced. The yard has been raised significantly, and now a gap between the house and the yard needs retaining and tidying up. Details are in attached photos. It would be about 21m of wall, counting both sides of the planter box section. The wall would be about 800mm high. We would like to use the surewall system ( ... .nz/products/surewall ), with part of the retaining wall also doubling as a planter box....

Retaining wall

I am looking for a builder who would be able to build a vertical or near vertical retaining wall (e.g. timber) for us on the boundary between my property at 76 Mortimer Terrace, Booklyn and the neighbour's property at 74 Mortimer Terrace. The wall would need to be about two metres high and five metres long. The site has limited access and the bank is quite steep. I have an engineer's report which I can provide. At this stage I am just looking for feedback on who would be prepared to take this on...

Landscaping backyard

Posted 10 months ago

I would like to landscape my backyard. At the moment the backyard is not flat - so may involve a retaining wall. This would not be a high retaining wall - knee height approx (on a short female). There are two piles/mounds on the section - where previous owner has dug a path around the house and left the dirt on the section. May be some drainage work depending on the landscaping.

Small clever landscaping solution needec

Our old cobbled driveway needs to be replaced (separate job/costing). It’s sunny and the only access to our house. We want the rearrange where gate and fencing is (that goes to our deck) so we can have a new fence and gate (?where posts are)) to form a small sunny seating area with a few plants. Happy to get rid of raised bed (or reduce). We definitely need landscaping plans- perhaps work done by you tho happy to do eg fencing ourselves.

Landscaped front steps

I’ve attached a picture of our current situation (two steps and a ramp up to the house from the driveway) and a picture of what I’m hoping to achieve (or as close to) in its place – getting rid of or covering the ramp and wall and replacing with the steps and garden planter boxes as pictured. The decking and timber fencing will be removed by then. We don’t want to take up any more of the driveway than the current footprint. We want to achieve the lighter almost off-white colouring of the...

Retaining wall needed

Posted 11 months ago

We have a bank behind our house that needs some attention- with some slips, rocks and land sliding down a bit, a retaining wall is in order! Also could do with some steps built in a bit further up for better access. It's a narrow area between the house and the bank - about a 1½ metres wide, and about 11 metres long that needs retaining.
