Paving remediation/Tidy up

We have installed a new front door which has a slightly smaller step the the previous one and as a result there is a gap between the door and the existing paving. I was thinking that the pavers around there would be removed and replaced by new stones that were cut to fit, however am open to suggestions if there is a better was to tidy it up.
