Tropical oasis

I have a very small backyard that I would like to have looking like a mini tropical oasis. A place to retreat to. I have existing plants that I would like to use i.e. bromeliads, but need input with what plants would be suitable to grow alongside each other. I would also like to add some privacy to the left shared fence line without completely blocking out the sun. Perhaps incorporating a wall hanging veggie garden. I think I’m almost there with an image. Just need some direction. Looking for someone with plant and design knowledge to help achieve a lush semi tropical back yard.
