Small Back Yard for topsoil and grass seed

We have a small back yard that needs rotary hoeing , followed by top soil and grass seed or turf... so we have a lawn for summer. The grass doesn't get a lot of sun due to the shade at the back of the house, but does in the afternoon... other options or suggestions appreciated!
