Hi, We are planning on putting an offer for an existing house in Ranui built in the 1970's. Before we can go unconditional we have been advised to do the building inspection to check if this is a sound home to live in for next 20-50years. We dont know much about NZ homes as we have been renting most of our time in NZ. If someone could please help us understand the cost involved and what we need to be aware of, what maintenance we would need to cater for in the next 1-5years, whether the home can be insulated if there are any leaks or damages, the condition of the hardiplank material and whether this has any issues. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
