Job description

Residential Property Inspections
Tauranga

Ideally this is a job for someone who can assess both the ELECTRICAL WIRING and the level of DAMPNESS/water in some of the walls – and give me advice on safety. The issues: 1. There is WATER/dampness in clearly at least two walls. I am interested to get this assessed: how widespread is the problem? Are other walls damp but not obvious to the eye? 2. I was told maybe six months ago that the WIRING in the house was potentially unsafe, even though I supposedly got the entire house re-wired when i bought it 20 or so years ago. INSPECTION & SAFETY ADVICE So with water + potentially unsafe wiring, how safe/unsafe is it to continue living here prior to getting any repair work done? CONSTRUCTION The house is a two-bedroom, 100m2, early 1950s bach. The exterior looks like weatherboard but is in fact an unusual metal cladding (quite soft, dents easily, and has foam backing). I don't need an entire 'pre-purchase' type inspection - just dampness and electrical. Not sure if ‘building inspector’ is the way to go – it may be better to get an electrican for one part of the problem and a ‘damp inspector’ for the other? Also, please let me know how you test for dampness – through surface meters, or by drilling small holes. ps. If I don't need an inspection to tell me it's unsafe, ie if you can tell from photos plus description, please say - and I will proceed with asking for quotes to re-wire the house.
