Fixing 3 or 4 bike hangers to garage wall

I have purchased the bike hangers and one is fixed to the garage wall. However I am struggling to find the stud solid wall to fix the remaining bike racks to. I have a piece of wood which could potentially be used to fix to the garage wall and then the bike racks fixed to this.
