Aluminum window stay replacement

The job is to replace the window stay in my bathroom. The window stay is too loose, it is not holding any position except the maximum. I have purchased the replacement and tried to change it by myself but failed. One screw that attaching the stay and the window frame is frozen, would not turn at all. After few attempts, the screw head is stripped now. The other screws attaching to the frame can be taken out with no issue. Have not tried the screws attaching to the window.
