Repair rotten timber window frame
Job description
I have a timber window frame that has two rotten sections. The first one is along the bottom of the frame. That section of soft wood is about 15 cm long. The second bit of rot is just a few centimeters on the right hand side. You can't see it in the photos because the paint is still intact. The lower right corner of this same window was repaired back in 2016, also because of rot. The smaller bit of rot is adjacent to this repair. The new wood for the 2016 repair doesn't show any sign of rot. The extent of the old repair is marked with green tape in one of the photos. I've tapped on the window sill and I can't detect any softness in the sill itself. The window is on the ground floor, so easy to access. There is a friendly dog on the property. There is a door we can close to keep her away from the work area. We already have small cans of Resene primer and topcoat that should be suitable for this job and are less then a year old.

The tradesman was very punctual for the first meeting. The work was very well done and it was done on time. They warned me that the glass could get broken and that was my risk. One glass pane did get broken unfortunately. Devon Timber Windows was able to refer me to someone who was able to match the existing glass and replace it.
