We are looking to remove an old gas fireplace from a bedroom. We are keen to keep the mantle etc and surrounding for the aesthetic look, but remove the gas fireplace so it's safe for our toddler. We'd ideally fill the hole with in-built shelves etc but that could be done separately. We don't think the fireplace is still connected but can't be sure so assume we need expert advice. Thanks
