Reignite gas on old hot water cylinder

We have an old rheem hot water cylinder, that the pilot light is difficult to turn back on. I had to turn the gas off and now I can't reignite it. It's a problem we've had before and had to use a long lighter to do it, but I also can't even hear any gas coming out when turned on. Would love if someone today can come and look at it to have hot water this weekend. Thanks
