Job description

Fireplace & Gas Heating
Auckland

I have a fixed wall heater working on Natural Gas that has an issue with the pilot. For some reason, the pilot flame does not consistently lit on. When it does, the flame instantly dies. Troubleshooting steps performed so far: - The sparkler bracket was loose and might have been located too far away from the pilot gas supply. Tried to move the sparkler closer/farther from the pilot flame holder with the bracket tightened but no luck with that. 1) The sparkler button is quite hard to press and does not produce really strong sparks. I replaced the front panel (which contains the sparkler button) with one from a another working gas heater in the house (same model) and could not get the pilot to turn on. -2)Tried the front panel of the faulty gas heater onto a working one and could get the pilot to turn on, although the it was much harder. So there is gas supplied (can also hear it) and a spark is produced. Could be that the there isn't enough gas flow to sustain the flame (blockage in the pilot tube) or insufficient air coming in (flame too rich). I think the sparkler would also need replacing. The unit in question is a: Geo (or Emege Euro) 2119SLT-NG
