Job description

Gardening
Rodney

This job will be in two parts 3 months apart. The job is hedge trimming, manual weeding, and spraying. All garden waste to be removed off site. Must know how to prune feijoa and lemon tree for good fruiting next year. Must be able to identify the difference between a plant and a weed! i.e to recognise what young privet is If successful, this could turn into a regular job doing garden maintenance. You will have to supply all your own tools and work during weekdays only. SPRAY Spray driveway and around edges Spray around edge of house, remove large weeds, spray small weeds Spray metalled unmowable bank beside truck shed. Stone garden areas (front and back of house) pull out larger weeds, only spray where no plants are around with large droplet sprayer so no plant death will occur from spray drift. Underhedges, boundary edges remove manually remove weeds where minimal, only spray where appropriate so no risk of plant/tree death from spray drift . Pull out any privet or phoenix palm weeds that start to grow anywhere. Check under feijoa trees, and in monkey apple hedge for privet. Phoenix palms typically start to grow under the large Sequoia tree branches from bird droppings. TRIMMING BACK YARD Remove 2 growing phoenix palms in the north eastern corner (currently small). Magnoila Tree by concrete courtyard area – prune after flowering ( combine with one of the spray regimes) It can be shaped more rather than a hard flat top. Maximum height after pruning to be 2 m tall. 2 x Feijoa trees and 1 x Bush Lemon tree - prune after fruiting (what month - now?) Monkey Apple hedge, western boundary behind the truck shed. Trim our side and top down to 2.0m tall. Corokia in back yard to have their sides trimmed facing the lawn, do not trim the height. On boundary side of truck shed in the 1.2m wide gap. Prune neighbours rose plant back hard to boundary. Remove large weeds, spray the rest. Camelia hedge on east side of house behind slatted fence. Trim top as per red line shown in photo below. Trim sides to remove foliage against the house. FRONT YARD Dead head agapanthus, roughly remove larger clumps forcing against fence. 2 x Copper Sheen trees on LHS of driveway coming in. Prune both sides (quite narrow so it doesn’t hit car side mirror) prune top to 1.8m high. Corokia hedge trim sides and top to 10cm above fence height. Remove agapanthus and other weeds in stone garden growing on this side of the fence. Ok to leave violet flowers Pittosporum hedge on the front boundary trim the sides and top down to 10cm above fence height. Remove agapanthus growing on this side of the fence. Agapanthus – dead head all flower stems. Pull out some of the larger clumps that are growing close to the fence edge to help thin them out a bit and not grow too much in bulk. Astelia – thin out from base around edges to prevent leaves on the house and overgrowing garden edge. Photo below shows thinned out astelia. And Niger? Plant to the left in photo, remove dead stalks and thin if necessary to reduce outwards growing bulk from pedestrian impediment. Doesn’t need height pruning. ALL AREAS Pull out privet trees and phoenix palms that start to grow (eg privet grows mostly under the feijoa trees and monkey apple hedge). Please note best to call me on my landline phone number (mobile is a problem here.) keep trying until you get me ;o) Prefer if can leave a landline phone number for return calls. thanks
