Remote not working anymore

Hi there, We have a Dominator garage door motor that is working but the remote doesn't anymore. The batteries were changed to no avail. We think it is either the receiving sensor or the remote being faulty. The door also cannot be manually locked so I'd like to see if its possible to install sliding tabs on each side through the channels so that the door can be locked. Cheers Miguel
