New House - Groundworks

I am looking to build a house and potentially studio, I've had quotes for concrete slab with dig out and refill to 1m, but I want to look at concrete piling with timber floor as an alternative. House is approx 117sqm and studio approx 96sqm. Ground is old gold mining workings and mainly clay at the surface, there are reported to be ironstone layers lower down that gave the miners significant issues when they were working the area.
