Waterproofing

Hi guys We Want to turn our laundry room into a bathroom...We havent got permission yet for the job but just wanted to know IF its possible that we can keep the Tawa floor boards. I guess the floor will need to be waterproofed .I dont want to cover the Tawa if we can help it.. if its NOT possible what would your suggestion be to make this floor waterproof! Or if we can keep floor boards for half the room and tile of lino around the shower area..Thankyou Robyn Davies
