Clean sand and varnish

The floor appears to have had vinyl on it and removed before i bought the house. So there is a residue over the wood, my goal is to get the timber to a crisp varnished finish. There is also a hole in the floor. If you can patch it that would be good otherwise i can get someone else to do that first. The area is 7.1 by 2.4, some of the area has fixed cabintry and will not need doing
