Match dining floor with existing timber flooring in kitchen

I need flooring work for my dining area which is connected to the kitchen. The kitchen area has existing timber flooring (which I'm unsure if it's matai or rimu) but the previous owners of the house had put a garage-material like carpet on the dining area floor. I'm unsure what's underneath the dining floor and if the underfloor is good so that all you need to do is rip out the carpet and install new flooring. What I need is for the dining floor to be installed a similar timber flooring and stained to match the existing floor in the kitchen. The area measures approx 1900mm x 2600mm. I’m not in rush but hopeful that it can be completed within this year. Let me know if you need to visit first to determine how much work is needed. Thank you in advance.
