Job description

Timber Flooring & Parquetry
Christchurch

A small section of timber T&G flooring, approximately 1m squared, next to a fireplace needs to be levelled so that the carpet being installed will finish at the same height as the vinyl in the adjoining room. Floor Levelling compound was used under the vinyl to level that section of floor. There is an oversized (2m) cavity slider that runs over this section of floor (the vinyl stops halfway under the door), it's therefore crucial the floor levelling method does not raise the floor any higher than necessary. Carpet has been installed however the installers did not level the floor as requested/discussed, and they have now advised they don't have the skill set to carry out levelling, so the carpet is being removed to allow levelling to take place. As the carpet is currently in place I can't measure the exact differential however I think it's approximately 8-10mm. The vinyl tiles are flush onto the level of the timber floor at the west end, and built up at the east end. Carpet is being removed Monday and I would like the floor levelling carried out as soon as possible. Photos attached of the edge prior to the carpet going in and one with the door closed and the carpet installed showing the gap. As well as being aesthetically unappealing there is an 'uncomfortable' step down into the carpet in that corner at present. I'm after a quick solution that fixes the look and feel without creating any issues with the cavity slider opening and closing or changing the height across any other areas of floor in this room as the carpet in adjoining areas is installed and won't be lifted.
