replace timber flooring where borer found

We're renovating a flat and have discovered some borer in the floor. Bad enough that the leg of a stool has gone through it. I'm not sure how much of the floor will need to be replaced. The area is under carpet so it could be replaced with particle board rather than the existing tongue and groove if that is the easiest way to do it. We have carpet due to go down in a bit over a week so it needs to be done promptly.
