Broken gate needs fixing

My wooden gate has been a problem for a long time. I have had it repaired many times but as soon as a strong northerly comes along the latch breaks off again. It might need to be re designed/replaced as the current design just doesn't survive the weather conditions up here. It is not going to be a simple case of replacing the latch - been there done that many times! Have included some photos
