Job description

Timber Fencing & Gates
Auckland

A new timber fence on our western boundary line. The new fence is required to be 2m high, consisting of timber post, rail and pailings. We wish the pailings to be fixed slightly overlapping so that no gaps can be seen between pails. (See attached photo for design example/indication.) As a minimum the posts must be SG8, H4 treated timber. Post spacing depends on post size used - to be confirmed with fence builder. Assume 3 rails required, top rail must be H4 treated. Top cap optional but not required. The boundary line where the fence will go does not currently have any substantial fence, and consists of moderate privet bushes. (See attached photos - we will cut this back as required to allow for fence here). The site is slightly sloping (about 10deg) along the fence line. We are keen to fence most of the boundary, but this is dependent on the cost. TWO quotes are required: 1) Fence only upper part adjacent to front lawn - approx 14m length. 2) Fence full length - approx 31m. *While cost is important overall, we could be persuaded to complete the fence in two or three sections if the contractor is willing and the fence quality is robust. Timeframe - not urgent. Assumed to be during spring 2021, but dependent on cost/budget as indicated.

Johan started the job much later than expected, however this was partly due to difficulty in obtaining fencing timber from merchants due to covid disruptions. Some extra effort required in deepening the post holes, all hand-dug, and minor bush trimming along the fence line. Some of the outer overlapping pailings have been nailed too close to the edges causing minor splitting at the nail locations, however this is a minor issue. Overall good quality work, satisfied with the result.

"Hi Joshua, Very sad about the 4 review. It is the 1st sub 5 review I have received in more than 1 year. If there was a problem which I didnt see, one call from you and I would have come to replace it. To replace a paling at a cost of $ 4.00 each is low comp[ared to the value of full 5 out of 5 reviews. I even asked you for a good review but.."
