Tie down one side of the carport to prevent wobbling in strong wind

Job description

Structural Steelwork Trentham, Hutt Valley

Published on 17th September 2023

We bought and installed a carport from Tradetested. Something like this ---
The 2 legs are cemented in place as told in the instructions. It is said to be able to withstand winds up to 120kph. However, in strong winds, the roof still moves up and down a lot. Although there is no damage to the structure, bigger gusts might blow the roof off if we leave the unsupported side not tied down.

The plan is to have a metal harness placed on the roof beams, which is then attached to a metal cable that is then tied down to the ground. The ground though is not cemented, so additional concreting would be needed on those spots. There are 2 roof beams.
