Job description

Structural Steelwork
Christchurch

I have a 50mm hitch receiver on my vehicle for towing. The removable towbar that was supplied with the hitch receiver has, in addition to the load-bearing hitch pin, a threaded connection for an optional securing bolt to stop it jiggling. This works great. I have a second, longer, removable towbar with only a hole for the hitch pin (no securing bolt) so it jiggles a lot while driving. *** The required work is to replicate the threaded connection so I can use the same securing bolt on the second towbar. This involves: [1.] Drilling a clearance hole for the M16 bolt in the underside of the 4mm steel SHS (tradie to locate the hole while bar is installed). [2.] Welding a suitable M16 nut (strength grade 8 or higher) on the inside of the SHS (I don't know the thread pitch but can supply the bolt for checking). [3.] Coating exposed metal for corrosion protection and painting black to match bar (tradie to advise coating & painting methodology). *** I can bring the bar to you or you can collect it. Either way you will be able to locate the hole while bar is attached to vehicle, then I can leave the bar with you for a few days. Flexible on timing but the towbar is used on Mondays & Tuesdays, so can give it to you on a Tuesday evening for return by Sunday evening.
