Clear soil from on top of city council manhole

I have a small digging job in Remuera I need approximately 30cm (depth) of soil moved from an 80cm square recessed area around a small water manhole so it can be accessed by my plumber. It's about 80cm below lawn level. The concrete manhole lid it to remain intact and must not be open or disturbed. The soil then needs to be bucketed and / or shovelled out and wheelbarrowed along a path to the driveway or spread around the garden under the plants.

Deepening a pool

I would like to have the centre section of an oval above ground pool deepened by about 40cm. The ground is firm as has had a pool compacting the clay soil. The original pool floor has a layer of compacted builders sand on top. The oval pool dimensions are 7.3m by 3.6m. It would be too difficult to get mechanical equipment so hand digging is likely.
