Presently our electrical service runs from a pole across the street, via a small pole on top of a retaining wall adjacent to our house. The retaining wall is to be removed and replaced. The pole supporting our main electrical service needs to be removed before the retaining wall work can happen. We've contacted Wellington electricity and they have suggested relocating the service wire to the dormer window located a few metres in front of the existing entry point. We aren't particularly concerned about the aesthetics of the installation and would be fine with cable running on the exterior of the house and re-using the current entry point and internal wiring if this would reduce costs. We plan to replace the roof and exterior wall cladding next late summer/fall, though this work will very likely need to take place AFTER the electrical service relocation. This might cause issues with cabling running on the exterior of the house and/or provide an opportunity to install internal wiring without having to cut through internal or external wall surfaces.
