Hello! I have a 1950's bach on Links Ave. Recently, when getting something fixed on the hot water cylinder, the electrical asked, "Did you know your wiring is quite unsafe?" This came as a surprise, as I had it rewired after purchase in 2000. Maybe the sparky back then just re-wired part of it? Keen for advice, but it sounds like all or most of it may need re-wiring. It's two-bedrooms, only 101m2, on piles (ground slopes so different heights in different places), wooden floors, metal cladding. Photos attached. Am also attacking some damp issues currently..... there is possibly water in two walls: one is a roof issue, getting fixed soon, the other not sure. The sparky who fixed the HW cupboard said he is too old for re-wiring work now.. but he estimated it would take one guy and his assistant a day. He also estimated a price.... but am keen to hear quotes. Timeframe is flexible, but if it's unsafe I am guessing sooner rather than later would be better. Thanks for reading!
