Our three-bedroom home needs an upgrade of the smoke-alarm situation, so as to meet the requirement for building consent as we are about to have a wood burner installed. We are told it needs smoke alarms that talk to one another, in every living area. Normally I would just install a smoke alarm myself but this feels beyond me. We want someone to do it who: 1. Has solid knowledge of the Building Code requirements for smoke alarms when a wood burner is being installed. 2. Can accurately assess which of our rooms needs an alarm, and which doesn't. 3. Can procure these alarms or tell me which ones to get and how many. 4. Can install the alarms and make them talk to one another. 5. Make the one in the kitchen a heat alarm, because over-sensitive photoelectrics drive me nuts. Ideally, these will be controlled by a freestanding device that is not a smartphone, because we don't want a 'smart' home, we just want reliable smoke alarms.

One of the best jobs we've had done through Builderscrack. Communicated well, showed up when they said they would, respectful on site and explained how it all worked with the interconnected smoke alarms. All eight smoke alarms and their base unit installed & tested with such hassle-free workmanship, it was a great relief to me not to have to do it myself. Would definitely recommend these guys.
