House was built in 1957.We have a problem with our back door. When it rains water seeps in and over a period of time this has affected the back eternal door framing. We think that the whole back door framing needs to be replaced as well as a new door installed. There is no protection above the back door area and this in itself seems to add to the problem. Poor design from the time the house was built possibly. Inside the back door the flooring is made up of chip board and has softened. How to fix flooring? At the same time as having this work done we also plan on adding a new front to match the back door. I have seen the sort of door and its design at Bunnings. Husband is quite a good handyman but some jobs need to have a professional look at things and come up with good ideas :) We may also be looking at having a sliding hallway door (internal) put inside the wall to take up less space and make things look a lot tidier and neater. This internal hallway door presently has a pelmet which we don't like but which seemed to be the 'in thing' back in the time. We are thinking of selling our home so these works need to be done prior to selling. I have put down an approx. budget but we have no idea what this sort of work is going to involve.
