29/7/21 The doors were assessed and found to be 20mm out of plumb at the head and there was a mid-door sagging of 18mm. There was notable damage to the frame at the sill and along the slider runner sections. This damage was due to both movement and the doors resting on the runner frame. During the process of opening the doors, the doors were catching on the frame at the sill and head, this prevented full movement of some parts of the door. The recommended remedial works will require for removal of the doors (including the side one which were also noted to have sagged at the head) to determine the cause of the frame sagging. It is expected that the timber frame above will required strengthening to carry these large doors as the original units would have been less structurally heavy. Once that is complete the doors can be rehung level and plumb. There is concern that the doors may require significant adjustment post removal and there could be underlying damage to the frames caused by the sagging.
