I would like to reduce the angle that the bottom of my driveway makes with the road to stop the bottom of cars scraping it. My driveway is relatively steep. When cars drive up to my house they often scrape either the front or the back. The issue is not so much the steepness of the driveway, but the fact that the road dips about a meter before and the driveway's angle is also sharper at the bottom. Those two facts in combination make the cars scrape. I would like to bring the driveway out on the road by about a meter to remove the dip from the road. I would also come into the driveway around 1.5-2 meters. This should create more than enough angle smoothing. Some considerations: - The water will need to flow around the new protruded driveway in the road so careful consideration around fall angles - Existing drain pipes underneath might need a little rerouting - This part of the driveway is shared between two households - The road is a private road, however, we should verify any council rules and whether any consents are required. - The width of the driveway at this point is 3.3 m with the length of the new piece of the driveway 2.5-3 m in my mind. - Existing driveway and road would need to be removed. It's not too much so by hand should be possible, although if you have a small excavator that might speed up the job. - Ideally I would like use extra strong industrial concrete to enable large trucks to be able to go up to the houses without damaging this piece of the driveway, which would experience the most pressure. - Similar to above, I would all work to have more than enough steel reinforcement for this to be solid and without cracks for decades to come. - The sooner this is done the better - Note that I have posted another job (# --- ) to get quotes for my upper driveway. You might be able to do both pieces if you decide to sign up. - Photos attached
