Concrete Floor Preparation for Tiles

Prepare concrete floor for tile laying - no polishing. Looking for options to prepare the floor to lay modern ceramic tiles. There is glue residue from vinyl flooring and some minor holes to be taken care of. We have removed gross glue residue and sanded but concrete not absorbent.
