Private house; owners wish to widen vehicle crossing for the purposes of improving aesthetics and also providing additional parking space. The existing drive to pathway and street is asphalt and Owners propose the widened addition would also be asphalt. The drainage cross-over from the path to the street is concrete with an asphalt cover and we would propose to match up with existing for the widened portion. While the proposed widening is under the canopy of an existing tree, Owners do not believe any root damage would be caused by the works however see below for further detail and CCC Requirements. Owner has made application to CCC for approval of these works and such has been approved by CCC. The following are CCC Requirements: 1. CCC Requires Contractor to hold a minimum of $500,000 insurance to cover any incidents. 2. CCC Requires hand digging (and pruning of any roots by a qualified Arborist, IF roots are encountered) on the side of extension parallel to fence line. 3. CCC also Requires a root barrier be placed. This area is approximately 4.2 meters in length. Owner believes no roots will actually be affected due to distance from tree. 4. CCC Requires a “HOLD POINT” after preparation of area to check compaction prior to placement of asphalt. 5. CCC Requires the concrete crossing blocks to be concreted in place prior to asphalting cover in order to minimise future movement and potential cracking of the asphalt. This is NOT an EQC related job. Works may commence immediately after contract award.
