Repair weatherboard

Hello, I have a weatherboard on the second floor of my house which has a fairly decent gash in it. I'm not sure if the gap is too large to fix without having to replace the entire board. Need someone to replace and fix the board insitu. I have a roof coming off shortly, so its an ideal time to access this part of the house which would otherwise require scaffolding.
