Replacing damaged cladding

We are going to paint the exterior of our house and need to replace some of the wooden boards before we can start painting. We would need advice on exactly how many need to be replaced (some are crack badly, some are not too bad) and they type of board that we would need to buy. Most of the house is concrete block there is just 1 side and 2 sets of roof cladding that have cladding (see photos)
