Carpet cutting and re-fitting

Prior to installing a sliding wardrobe in my bedroom in need to make a cut in the carpet. The Carpet  – the track needs to sit on the floorboards, not the carpet so the carpet will need to be cut and re-fitted at the front and rear of the bottom track. The bottom track is 83mm wide (front to back) and I would suggest that a cut is made in the middle of that size so the carpet can be peeled back.
