carpet repairs

i require options for fixing or replacing frayed carpet edge by front door. Carpet started to lift and then the cats have clawed at it fraying the edge quite badly. Also stretch/fix carpet between lino in kitchen and lounge carpet. Carpet has started to come away from the metal rod that covers the join. Carpet is very old but in good condition, so there maybe an option to stretch the carpet.
