We need to open a hole in the T&G floor to access the subfloor space to both pull out all the rubble that has been left under there (when a fireplace was removed, the rubble was left under the house and is creating ventilation issues) and to place one new pile. We would like an opinion on whether the carpet is suitable to be pulled up and re-layed, or if it will be knackered once pulled up. If the carpet can't be re-layed, we intend to place a hard floor covering (to be continued from kitchen where terra cotta tiles are present at the moment). We also have 2 other areas in the house where we need an opinion on what best to do with the carpet, where renovations have left the original carpet a little way from the door or wall. We have extra of the original carpet in the garage. There is no special timeframe, although we are keen to keep moving on our renovation and this is the next job on the list. We don't love the carpet, but don't plan to replace the whole house carpet at present if at all possible.
