Fixing ceiling and perhaps building more storage space

My storage space for hot water cylinder has damaged ceiling (in laundry). I'd like to have it fixed, so that I can use rest of the storage to actually store things without getting dirty easily. Plus I'd like to explore possibilities in adding more storage space in laundry.
