I need a quote for some work. The deck roof (veranda) has been shown to not meet council codes and needs rebuilding to bring up to specifications. I have some photos and information from the structural engineer I can provide, and right now I just need a rough ball park figure so I have an idea of the cost and effort involved. The deck is approx 30m squared and the notes from the engineer are: The deck members (joists, bearers and piles) seem generally OK. The verandah roof is very lightly constructed, and a quick structural check reveals a number of members and their connections that would not meet today’s design codes. It’s unlikely that they will have met the codes of the time either. Items that don’t meet code include: Rafters – 140x30, notched at the top for the 45x45 purlins to fit into Rafter connections to the house and the outer beam Outer beam (140x45) connections to posts See photos attached for further information on sizes.
