Deck Extension and Recovering
Job description
Extension of an existing deck that has wooden frame structure and decking and recovering with new composite decking. The deck is off the back of the house and is approximately 15 metres in length and about 3 metres at its widest point. Portions of the deck are as high as 2.5 metres above ground level although mostly less than a metre off the ground (See photos). There are 2 or 3 existing joists that may need replacement or reinforcement. This will become apparent after existing decking is removed or upon inspection from underneath. Extensions include: • 1.5 metre along side of house • Over (and removal of) existing stairs • 45 degree angles from the extension protruding part in the centre Work includes: • Removal or replacement of existing decking and raising level (approximately 3-5 cm) to match internal floor level • Extending the deck with additional frame and supporting poles (see diagrams) • Remove existing support pole • Strengthen existing framing (joists) as required • Installation of composite decking (Approx. 47m2) • Removal of existing base/facsia boards • Installation of base/facsia boards along length of deck • Additional framing and supporting materials • Installation of posts and glass balustrades (Approx. 20 metres) Does not include: • Purchase of composite decking (to be provided as specified) • Purchase of glass balustrades and supporting posts • Purchase of base/facsia boards • Painting Existing tress and shrubs will be cut clear of the work areas. Existing trellis covering the front of the deck can be removed if necessary although there is access available from northern end of the deck. Notes: 1. In addition to the deck the sliding door is being replaced with a 4 panel bifold door and the walls around the door will be covered with "HardasRock" stone. The sequence and timing of these may impact some parts of the job. 2. The deck being recovered is only that directly off the house and NOT the larger deck off the lawn
