Cat flap installation

We have a wooden door back outside/inside with a current cat-flap - the hole in the door that is cut for the current door is approximately 230mmx230mm, so its quite large. I have recently purchased a smaller cat-flap because it has a special microchip recognition in it (purchased to stop intruder cats coming into our home). However the hole required for this special cat-flap is smaller - 165W x 171Hmm. Possibly the door will need to be filled somehow to accommodate this new cat-flap.
