Lining underside of verandah &/or fixing battens to ply garage

1) Lining the underside of a wrap around verandah roof (with soffit board). Board hasn't been purchased. Underside of roof has already been lined with building paper and netting. 2) fixing wooden battens to a 9x9m board and batten standalone garage. The garage is already clad in shadowclad and is not internally lined so can easily sight studs from the inside. batten materials have not been purchased. The main house is a board and batten style, so looking to match the garage to that that.
