Building maintenance/renovation (number of smaller jobs)
Job description
We are looking for someone to help out with some building work around our place in Avondale. There are quite a few smaller bits and pieces and reading the list below may not mean much but hopefully it gives an idea of the kinds of things we are looking at doing. The work will include: Bedroom - Straighten hallway wall and frame out where internal window was in preparation for me to install insulation and gib. (I have taken lining off this wall as it was particularly odd and thought it might help be a bit more accurate about what is involved in remedying it) - Fit 13mm gib to ceiling - Level bedroom floor by raising last 1-2 feet chipboard in one end of room to match hardwood floorboards in rest of floor (room carpeted) - Install new internal door to room entrance and fit hardware (hardware will be supplied) Office - Frame out linen cupboard to accommodate new door and light switch - Install new internal door to linen cupboard (I will fit hardware) Hallway - Fit 13mm gib to ceiling - Install new internal door to master bedroom and fit hardware (hardware will be supplied) - Fix creaky/squeaky floorboards (area where floorboards join chipboard) Other - Repair cracked rafter near man hole - Add support in some form under floor in bedroom to stop bounce - Inspect joists under house and recommend repair prior to me installing underfloor insulation. There are a couple that likely need sistering. - Determine whether we can widen doorway between entranceway and lounge and fit bifold doors. If it is not load bearing, provide quote to widen doorway and install bifolds. We are flexible around timeframe for having the work carried out, happy to wait a couple of months and it could also be done between other larger jobs if that would suit. Could also look at splitting the jobs up if someone didn't want to do the lot. Cheers

I would not hesitate to recommend Milan and would like to use him again for future building work. He completed everything to a high standard and took pride in his work (which seems to be quite rare). A couple of times he suggested alternative options which turned out to be better overall. He worked quietly and was patient around our day to day life and that of our 2 year old daughter. He was also more than happy to offer other building related advice outside the things he was helping us with.
