Job description

Handrails & Balustrading
Auckland

Our balustrade needs some TLC! The top of it was patched up by me last year - sections of the wood capping the balustrade had been deteriorating, so I replaced the affected areas with new bits of wood and builders bog etc. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked very well - the balcony gets lots of sunshine and exposure to the elements, and the various pieces of wood lift and become uneven quickly after being re-sanded, re-filled and re-primed! I would like the wood replaced with a thicker, smooth hardwood ready for me to prime and paint. The capping timber is 1.7cm thick, and 13.3cm wide. One length is 3.47m long and the other length is 7.52m long. I would like the replacement wood to be at least 3cm thick, and it could be a bit wider than the existing 13.3cm width too if necessary. The inner face of the balustrade is crumbling in a few places at the base. I would like some wood skirting installed at the base of the inner face - not touching the decking, but close enough to conceal the crumbling areas. To achieve this, the skirting should be approximately 4cm “high”. I don’t want anything too chunky - and I’d like the top of the skirting to angle down i.e. I don’t want it to be flat. Photos attached. I would like the work done within the next 2-3 weeks.
